Narrator had a strong fear of water right from his childhood.That fear had developed so much over the years that he could not try anything which had something to do with water.But then, in the end of the story,he realised the fact that all we have to fear is fear itself.We should keep away are fear and then he did not fear water.It was a lesson of his life.
