Please explain me the question ? 7 n 21:18 Page 32 v QI: Which of the following expressions are polynomials in one variable and which are not? State reasons for your answer. Solution

Dear Student,

Question 1

(i) and (ii) are polynomials in one variable because they have only one variable and powers of the variable are whole numbers.

(iii) is not a polynomial because the power of variable is in root.

(iv) is not a polynomial because the variable is in denominator.

(v) is a polynomial but not in one variable because it contains three different variables.

Question 3
A monomial is an algebraic expression having only one term and binomial is an algebraic expression having two terms
Degree of a polynomial is the highest power of the variable of the polynomial.
