*** TO MY FRIEND ISHITA*** Q1. What was the misadventure? How did it end? Q.2 what plan did Douglas made to save himself? Q3. what happened after the third try? (These Questions are from chapter deep water)

Dear student,

The answer to question 1 is as follows:
  1. Douglas refers to the incident at the Y.M.C.A. swimming pool where he almost drowned as a “misadventure.” The author was about ten or eleven years old at the time and had barely begun to learn swimming, primarily by aping others. As he was thrown suddenly into the water by someone and he couldn’t swim, he started drowning. The struggle to come to the surface and to avoid getting drowned left him with a deep fear of water which deprived him of enjoying water-related activities for many years.
To obtain assistance on the remaining queries, we would request you to kindly post them in separate threads.

Ans 2.... He frightened and he planned to implement some strategy to come out of water. He planned when his feet hit the bottom, he would make a big jump and come to the surface, lie flat on it and paddle to the edge of the pool. But it seemed like a long way down. Those nine feet were more like ninety and before he touched bottom his lungs were ready to burst. And his feet hit bottom he summoned all his strength and done that, but he thought he will come up to the surface like a cork. But that planned not worked, at last he felt to call his mother for help.

Ans 3.... When Douglas went down inside the water for the third time, his limbs became weak and he was in a state of trance. He felt he was in oblivion. He did not remember anything. After he gained his consciousness, he recalled that he was lying on his stomach and was vomiting. He also felt that the boy who had thrown him in water was getting scolding. To prevent himself from chastisement the boy said that he was just joking with Douglas.
