John Locke - In his book, Two Treatises of Government, he sought to refute the doctrine of the Devine and absolute right of the monarch.
Rousseau - He proposed a form of government based on a social contract between the common people and their representatives.
Montesquieu - In his Spirit of the Laws, he proposed a division of power in the government between the legislature, executive and the judiciary.
