CBSE Class 12 Biology Exam 2015 Review: Simple paper with very few tricky questions

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted Biology exam on March 23 for the Class 12 Board students. The last two examinations, Economics and Biology exams have been a compensation to the disastrous Mathematics exam which was held on March 18.

After the Mathematics exam, the students have been worried about CBSE’s change in paper pattern. from ‘objective type’ questions to ‘application based’ questions. The Biology exam was a confidence booster for many students.

Students were given a break of four days for the preparation of Biology exam. We have received good reviews from many of our users, a student of Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khowaii, Tripura west said, “Questions were simpler than we had expected and paper was not time consuming.”

Overall the paper consisted of questions that were concept based and interesting. Students thinking and reasoning skills were tested instead of just mere cramming and writing.

Analysis of the question paper:
 The question paper was divided in 5 sections and the paper was distributed in 3 sets- Set I, II and III.

There were a total of 26 questions and the students were given many internal choices within the questions.

Section A:
 It comprised of five questions and were based on one word type questions, having a weightage of one mark
Section B:  It comprised of five questions which were short answer type questions and weighed two marks
Section C: It comprised of 12 questions which had short answer type questions which weighed three marks each
Section D: It contained one question which was a valued based question that carried four marks
Section E: The last section had two long answer type questions which carried five marks each.

 

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

 

– Difficulty Level: Average
– Paper not lengthy
– There were 2 tricky questions, Q.No.14 and Q.No.24 in Set 1; Q.No.13 and Q.24 in Set 2 and Q.No. 15 and Q.No 26 in Set 3
– There were no questions which were out of syllabus or erroneous.
