CBSE to conduct Class 10 Proficiency Test from Apr 20 onwards

CBSE is conducting a Proficiency test for class 10 students. The proficiency test is optional in nature and will be conducted in the month of April, 2015.

CBSE is conducting this test to promote and enhance the academic excellence and higher mental abilities of the students. The cbse proficiency test 2015 will be conducted in all five main subjects. The performance in the test will indicate levels of learning of students in respective subjects and will provide feedback to schools for setting goals, priorities and targets in their future educational processes and practices.

Dates for CBSE Proficiency Test 2015

It is optional in nature. Only those students who wish to take this test willingly may appear. It will be conducted in the month of April, 2015 as per the following schedule.

About the CBSE Proficiency Test 2015

Language: Proficiency test in language may assess a students’ skills in reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary.

Mathematics: A test in Mathematics may focus on assessing skills of mathematical thinking, mathematical reasoning and procedural techniques followed by students in problem solving.

Science: A science test may focus on application of concepts and principals to analyse a given situation and solve real life problems.

Social Science: The test in Social Science, may assess students’ ability to examine a given situation critically and apply related  concepts to Social issues and concerns.

 

Key Points for CBSE Proficiency Test 2015

(1) It will be conducted in all the five main subjects studied by a student in class-X. However, a student may appear in one or more subjects depending upon his/her choice.

(2) There will be a separate test in every subject. One test will be held on a single day.

(3) It will be a paper-pen test to be administered on the same day across all willing schools in the country.

(4) Any student studying in secondary or senior secondary school affiliated to CBSE and appearing in March, 2015 final examination (School conducted or Board Conducted) is eligible to appear in this test.

(5) Every student appearing in the test will be issued a separate certificate by the Board indicating percentile rank.

Format of the Question Paper for 2015

– All questions will be of multiple choice type with only single correct answer.
– Question paper in every subject will carry 100 marks.
– The duration of the test in every subject will be 2 and 1/2 hours.
– The test will be based on classes IX-X syllabus in the subject prescribed by CBSE.
– The questions included in the question paper will be of varying difficulty level.
– There is no negative marking for wrong answers. However, more than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

– The timings of the test will be from 10.30 A.M. to 1.00 P.M. in every subject.

    As of now the test is only for Class 10th.

    Hi.
    My son has recently taken cbse class 10 exams. I would like to know that if this proficiency test is also useful for my son?
    If yes then please let me know how can he take part in this?

    One more examination in the curriculum. I feel education system should introduce something interactive to judge the skills of students other than scores only.
    Definitely these exams will help kids to sharpen their knowledge, but why not we judge extra curricular activities or in other words the try to discover the God gifted skills in kids by conducting some exams?
