online learning vs books for cbse studentsSince the boom of the E-learning industry, the comparative effectiveness of real books and online learning techniques has been a major topic of discussion. Where on one hand, people swear by the authenticity and clarity of language in the knowledge provided by books, others are impressed by how easy it has become to study in better detail, through all the information available on the internet. We evaluate these points below in an objective manner for students of the CBSE Board, including the pros and cons involved:

1. Availability of Information

Books: Books can be bought from the several bookstores available everywhere. They are also available in the libraries. However, to browse through multitude of books for relevant information can be quite a task at times.

Online Learning: The internet, on the other hand, is structured in a way to help us extract any required information within seconds by using appropriate search strings. One can call this a big boon for students and learners, provided the area you live in has internet connectivity.

2. Authenticity of Information

Books: A book is published and prescribed by teachers after a lot of research, editing and proofreading. Therefore, the information in a printed book is most likely to be accurate and useful.

Online Learning:
The internet has hundreds of sources feeding information into it everyday. This increases the chances of incorrect or false information being made visible to readers. For this reason, it is most important that readers take into consideration the source and the website they open to attain information.

Books: Books contain information in a clear and properly stated manner. There might be a few illustrations or questionnaires, but students mostly have to manage with the written information and the text.

Online Learning: The internet contains several ways and tools to make information interesting and interactive. There are audio-visual aids like study videos and audio lectures, graphical illustrations to help in reading, learning and understanding as well as game based learning interface. These tools increase the interest of the user and help retain the information for longer.
