Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world to be recorded. While it is mother to most languages in India, languages in South East Asian countries like Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia and also many languages in Europe (Greek, Latin, Scandinavian and Slavic languages, German and French etc.) too have been influenced and enriched by Sanskrit. Recently in order to promote Sanskrit in schools there have been lot of initiatives executed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and HRD ministry.

While CBSE had asked students to send in two-minute long recorded audio clips on their topic of interest in Sanskrit through a popular messaging application, by July 20 on the board’s number, 07042745234. The HRD minister , Smriti Irani has effected a mid-session change across Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) where over 70,000 students across 500 KVs from classes 6 to 8 will be asked to switch from German to Sanskrit or any other modern Indian language with immediate effect.
