Friends, we are left with very few days before the examination. We hope that your preparation must be at peak. So, just quickly go through the important topics of unit 3.

We have sorted out important topics on each chapter as given in the above table. You are advised not to
miss the topics/areas we are suggesting so that you score the maximum in the ensuing boards exam. The topics/areas are:
Continuity and differentiability:
(1) Finding unknown when a continuous function is given
(2) Proving (or disproving) continuity of a function [Can come in 4 marks]
(3) Differentiation of polynomial and trigonometric functions [Can come in 4 marks]
(2) Differentiation of inverse trigonometric functions
(3) Differentiation of parametric functions [Can come in 4 marks]
(4) Using differentiation to prove a relation
(5) Verification of Rolle’s and Mean value theorem for the given function
Application of derivatives:
(1) Finding whether the function is (strictly) increasing or decreasing in the given intervals
(2) Equation of tangents and normals
(3) Word problems involving Maxima and Minima
(Important Ones: Cylinder inscribed in a sphere/Cubical tank) [Can come in 6 marks]
(4) Absolute maximum value or absolute minimum value
(5) First derivative test
(6) Second derivative test
(7) Local maxima and local minima
Note: Word problem on Maxima and Minima carry 6 marks.
Integration:
(1) Simple integration
(2) Integration by substitution, integration using partial fractions, and integration by parts
(3) Special integrals
(4) Definite integrals using properties [Can come in 6 marks]
(5) Definite integrals using substitution
(6) Definite integral involving limit change
(7) Definite integrals as limit of sum
(8) Area under the curves, area under the lines and area under the curve and the line
[A 6 marks question can be expected from this topic]
Note: Problems involving definite integrals using properties and area under curve carry 6 marks.
Differential equations:
(1) Forming differential equation, representing the family of certain curves
(2) Solving questions based on Variable separable method
(3) Homogeneous equations [Can come in 6 /4 marks]
(4) Linear differential equations [Can come in 4 marks]
