What is the genotypic ratio of the dihybrid cross?
Dear Student,
Inheritance of Two Genes (Dihybrid Cross)
- In dihybrid cross, we consider two characters. (e.g., seed colour and seed shape)
- Yellow colour and round shape is dominant over green colour and wrinkled shape.
Phenotypic ratio − 9:3:3:1
Round yellow − 9
Round green − 3
Wrinkled yellow − 3
Wrinkled green −1
The genotypic ratios is: 1:2:2:1:4:2:1:2:1
1/16 will be homozygous dominant for both traits (RRYY)
2/16 will be homozygous dominant for color and heterozygous for shape (RrYY)
2/16 will be heterozygous for color and homozygous dominant for shape (RRYy)
1/16 will be homozygous dominant for color and homozygous recessive for shape (rrYY)
4/16 will be heterozygous for both traits (RrYy)
2/16 will be heteozygous for color and homozygous recessive for shape (rrYy)
1/16 will be homozygous recessive for color and homozygous dominant for shape (RRyy)
2/16 will be homozygous recessive for color and heterozygous for shape (Rryy)
1/16 will be homozygous recessive for both traits (rryy)
Hope this helps,
Cheers !!
