A rectangular path of 60m length and 3m width is covered by square tiles of side 25cm. How many tiles will be there in one row along it's width ? How many such rows will be there ? Find the number of tiles used to make this path .

SOLUTION :

Step 1: Find area of rectangular path.           Area of rectangular path = length × breadth                                                                                           =(60×3) m2                                              =180 m2We know that 1m2  =10000cm2                        Area of rectangular path =(180×10000)cm2                                                                                                                                                            =1800000 cm2Step 2: Calculate total number of tiles required                            Area of square tile =(side)2                                    =(25×25)cm2                                                                                                                                       =625cm2   (Number of tiles required) =   Area of rectangular path Area of area square tile                                                         =     800000625                                                                                                                                  =2880

Step 3: Find the number of tiles along the width.  (Number of tiles in one row along the width of rectangle)  =length of widthlength of side of square                                                                                                         =(8×100)cm25cm                                                                                                          =12Step 4: Find number of rows  Number of row =Total number of tilesnumber of tiles in one row                             =288012                             =240Hence, 2800 tiles are used to make the path, 12 will be there in one row along its width and total of 240 such rows will be there.
