Aman was trying to use layering method to reproduce a rose plant . is he doing right thing justify your answer?

Dear student.

Aman is not exactly correct in using layering method to reproduce a rose plant.

Layering method is normally not used to propagate roses. Layering is used for propagation of plants like jasmine, cherry, grapevine etc. But there are instances where air-layering is used to propagate roses.

Rose plants are vegetatively propagated mainly by stem cutting or by grafting.

In cutting, a small young cutting of stem is taken and its placed partially inside the soil. After some time. it gives rise to a new plant.
In Grafting, a stem cutting from the desired plant (scion) is inserted in a rooted plant (stock), which is resistant to diseases. Then, they are bound firmly with tape or cloth so that they have vascular continuity.

Regards.
