can u explain the formation of c2h2

Hi,

Hybridisation in C2H2

o  In C2H2, both the carbon atoms are sp hybridized.

o  One hybrid orbital from each C-atom is involved in C−C sigma bond.

o  The two p-orbitals that have not participated in hybridization, participate in two C−C pi bonds. Thus, C2H2 contains a C−C triple bond.

o  Remaining two hybrid orbitals form sigma bonds with two H-atoms.

Hope it helps.
