Compare the reflections of your face formed by a plane mirror, a steel plate and a bowl full of water kept undisturbed. Which one gives the best reflection and why?

Dear student,

The image formed by a plane mirror is virtual, erect and of the same size of the object. and is at the same distance inside the mirror as the distance of the object from the mirror.

Same is the effect with still water. Water acts like a mirror showing similar results and the image formed is due to the reflection of light.

Now look at your image using the inner side of the spoon. This time you may find that your image is erect and larger in size. If you increase the distance of the spoon from your face, you may see your image inverted.  the inner surface of the spoon acts like a concave mirror while the outer surface act like a convex mirror.
