Dear experts in this question why cant we ignore m(e) as we have to calculatd the max kinetic energy. I viewedthe solution to this question but there they talk something about nuclear mass and all. What is that and why do we adopt that concept only to this question.this is an ncert text question q13.13 from nuclei. No links pls. I have asked this many times yeti didnt get a proper answer

Dear student,

The given nuclear reaction is:

m’ = Respective nuclear masses
If atomic masses are used instead of nuclear masses, then we have to add 6 me in the case of 'Cand 5 me in the case of 'B.

Q=Ed+Ev+Ee

The daughter nucleus is too heavy compared to e+ and v , so it carries negligible energy.Ed =0, if the kinetic energy carried by the neutrino is minimum (zero), the positron carries maximum energy and this is equal to Q.

Regards

Beacuse we need only the mass of nucleus ...But here the mass of whole atom is under consideration.
