Discuss the climate of ladakh and how does it effect activities in various seasons

a) Due to its high altitude , the climate is very cold and dry.
b) The day temperature in summer are just above 0. C and the the night temperature is below -30. C.
c) Freezing cold in winters when the temperature remains below -40. C for most of the time.
d) As it lies in the rainy shadow of Himalayas , there is little rainfall as low as 10 cm per year.
e) Area experiences freezing wind and burning hot sunlight. There is a chance of getting of frostbite and sunstroke at the same time.
Effect on activities in various seasons:
1. As area is extremely dry, vegetation is very less.
2. During summer, people cultivate many crops such as cultivating barley, potatoes, peas, beans and turnip.
3. Due to very harsh and extreme climate, it is nearly impossible to do work in winters.So they are just busy in festivals and ceremonies.
