Draw and explain the structure of local self govt.

Dear Student

The rural local government bodies comprises of the following: 

a. There is a Gram Panchayat in each village or a group of villages comprising of villagers, it also has ward members referred as Panchs and the President who is known as the Sarpanch. 
b. The panchs are elected by the members of the Panchayat. 
c. The working of the gram panchayat is supervised by Gram sabha. It is the Gram Sabha which comprises of all the adult members of the village anyone who is above the age of 18 is the member of Gram Sabha and has right to vote.   
Gram Sabha among them elects the members of the Gram Panchayat . The panchayat is answerable and accountable to the Gram Sabha.The Sabha approves the annual plans, budget of the panchayat. 
d.  The Panchayat Samiti exist at the block level or mandal and is headed by Chairperson and Vice Chairperson elected by the members of the samiti. 
e. It  Includes 1/5th of Members from Gram Panchyats. These Members are elected by the all panchayat members of the area.It also includes MLA's of the area. 
​f. Panchayat Samilti is administered by Block Development officer who is the executive officer that supervises all programmes and policies of the Panchayat Samiti and Sub Divisional Magistrate​. The Samiti,  takes up planning for schemes related to development of agriculture, livestock, irrigation, sanitation,public health. 
g. It supervises and coordinates the work of Gram panchayats. 
h. It implements the work given by the state governments or Zilla Parishad. 
i. At the the district level, there is which is  Headed by Chairperson and Vice Chairperson and i ncludes Chairperson of  all the Panchayat Samiti,   MP's and MLA's of the district. 
j. Zilla Parishad is  administered by DM or Collector.
