Explain how the African pastoralists affected due to restrictions on the mobility

The Forest Acts imposed severe  restrictions on the mobility of the pastoralists.

  • They were  not allowed to enter  forests that were a source of  valuable forage for their cattle.
  • In the areas where they were allowed entry, their movements were controlled.
  • They needed a permit for entry. There was specific time for  entry and departure . The number of days they could spend in the forest was reduced.
  • Pastoralists were not allowed to remain in an area even if forage was available.
  • If they overstayed they had to pay fine.
