Give a real life example of inert pair effect???

Inert pair effect is the non participation of inner s electrons, during the higher oxidation state of the element. That is if an element exist with +1 and +3 oxidation state, down the group the elements exist most stable with +1 oxidation state only. The higher oxidation state is unstable as their inner s orbital electrons are not participating. Ex., 13 th group, B to Tl. the elements are expected to show +1 and +3 oxidation state, out of which down the group the elements show +1 oxidation state (Ga to Tl)
