Dear Student ,
Equational division means daughter cell will have same chromosome number as of parents. Means if parent cell is diploid it will give diploid daughter cells. And mitosis does the same. Mitosis maintains the chromosome number same as that of parent. Hence mitosis is called as Equational division. (see image below)
