How are birds related to reptiles? Which example so we need to use - Archaeopteryx or Dromaesaur? Dromaesaur is given in NCERT.

Dear Student,

The correct spelling is Dromaeosaur

Crocodiles are considered as the closest living relatives of the birds. They both share a common ancestor. This common ancestor lived around 240 around 240 million years ago and also gave rise to the dinosaurs. Also, birds and reptiles share several characteristics such as their soft anatomy (brain, heart), they both lay eggs, have scales on feet. The fossils also provide evidence that birds are evolved from reptiles.
Archaeopteryx is the earliest and most primitive bird.  Archaeopteryx has often been considered a link between birds and reptiles, possibly the first bird in its change from a land dweller to a bird. It lived in the Late Jurassic Period around 150–148 million years ago. It had jaws with sharp teeth, three fingers with claws, a long bony tail, feathers, and various skeletal features. It is considered to be a transitional fossil between dinosaurs and birds because it displays a number of features common to both birds and dinosaurs.
Dromaeosaur is originally originated from Archaeopteryx.

Birds have dinosaurs as ancestors because they have the same wings.
