How to draw graphs for trigonometric function ?
Please do explain in brief.

Dear Student

Graphing a trigonometric function is actually pretty easy if you know what numbers to look at.
Recall that a trigonometric function (trig function) is simply a mathematical function of an angle.

There are three basic trig functions :

  1. sine function
  2. cosine function
  3. tangent function

There are also three inverse functions :

  1. cosecant function - reciprocal of the sine function
  2. secant function - reciprocal of the cosine function
  3. cotangent function - reciprocal of the tangent function.

To graph these functions, it's helpful to know what their basic graphs look like without any additional numbers changing the graph :

                                                                        Graph of sin x

                                sine graph

                                                                        Graph of cos x

                            cosine graph

                                                                                 Graph of tan x

                                          tangent graph

Now, you can use the properties of trigonometric functions to help you graph any one. This is because all trigonometric functions follow the same rules.

Take the standard trigonometric function :

                                                                   f (x) = A trig (Bx - C) +D

where

trig stands for basic trigonometric function (cosine, sine, or tangent)

           A
is amplitude

Phase shift is given by C / B

Vertical shift is given by D
