how would you determine the standard eletrode potential of the system Mg2+/Mg?

 

Electrode potential of a single electrode cannot be determined in isolation. For that purpose we use a reference electrode called 'Standard Hydrogen Electrode' and make a galvanic cell of two electrodes. Then we measure the emf of the cell using volmeter.
