Identify the major belts of moist deciduous forests in India.

a. Tropical deciduous are the monsoon forests found in the large part of India,northern Australia and in central America
b. Trees shed their leaves in the dry season to conserve water
c. Important trees found are sal, teak, neem and shisham.
d. Common animals found are Tigers, lions, elephants, langoors and monkeys
e.. In India, these moist deciduos forests occur on the wetter western side of the Deccan Plateau, on the eastern slopes of western ghat, the north-eastern part of the Deccan Plateau and the lower slopes of the Himalayas, on the Siwalik Hills from Jammu in the west to West Bengal in the east. They cover parts of Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkand, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
f, The deciduous forests are also called monsoon forests and are found in areas receiving annual rainfall of 100 to 200 cms in India, with a distinct dry and rainy seasons and a small range of temperature.
