if the length of a double helical DNA is 1.7 metre then the number of base pairs present in DNA

Dear student,
Answer is 5 X 109 base pair. Distance between two base pair in DNA is 3.4 Angstrom. Therefore in a helix since 10 base pair is present therefore the length of DNA in a helix is 34 Angstrom. So, if the length of DNA is 1.7 metre and the distance between the base pair is 3.4 Angstrom then the number of base pair would be 5 x 109.
