in our home their are sliding windows which are transparent in day time from inside and in night opaque. so what is it transparent or opaque or translucent

The principle on which those windows work is that they allow the light to pass through them from the brighter side of the window (outside in day and inside in night) to the less bright side (inside in day and vice-versa). They are translucent as not all of the light falling on them is transmitted a little portion of light is left behind and hence translucent.
