indicate the colour change of water in Phenolphthalein and also give reason?

Dear Kanishka,
Here is the answer:
  • Phenolphthalein is pink in colour, so when we add Phenolphthalein the water becomes pink in colour. Means there is no colour change of the substance and it remains like that only.  This indicates that in colour change,, the substance (water) remains colour-less or without any change in colour.
  • This is because water is a neutral solution.
Hope it helps!

Regards!

PHENOLPHTHALEIN IS COLOURLESS.
SINCE WATER IS NEUTRAL, IT WILL FAIL TO GIVE ANY INDICATOR TEST.
SO, NO COLOUR CHANGE WILL BE THERE.
PHENOLPHTHALEIN WILL REMAIN COLOURLESS

Phenolpthalein is a synthetic indicator which changes it s colour only in basic medium. So as water is neutral, the phenolpthalein remains the same and colourless.
