On the moon (where gravity is 1/6th of the Earth) there is a bucket of water kept on the s grand surface, filled till height H= 4m and a small hole is drilled so the water ejected  out falls on the ground at maximum distance from the bucket Then the maximum range R is ?

Dear Student,
let the distance be x.  then range(R)=2 . [(3H-x).x]1/2  since t=2xg1/2 and v=2g(3H-x)1/2  R2 = 4.(3Hx-x2)  for R to be max...R2 should be max. hence differentiating and putting dR2dx=0. we get 3H-2x=0  x=3H/2 Putting H=4mx=6m
