                        PARAGRAPH :-
1.Magh Mela is an important annual Hindu ritual held on the banks of Sangam (Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) in Prayag (modern day Allahabad). In 2018, Magh Mela begins on January 2 and ends on February 13. Magh Mela is also known as mini Kumbh Mela and is held in Magh month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India. The main ritual involves taking a holy dip (bathing) at Sangam on auspicious dates. It must be noted here that Magh Mela is not confined to the Magh month and the important bathing dates are spread over a period of 45 days. The important dates during Magh Mela 2017 are:
 January 2 (Paush Purnima)
January 14 and 15 (Makar Sankranti)
January 16 and 17 (Mauni Amavasya)
 January 22 (Basant Panchami)
 January 31 (Maghi Poornima)
and February 13 (Maha Shivratri)It is widely believed that taking a holy dip at the Sangam on the auspicious days during the period will wash away the sins and will lead to Moksha (merging with the Supreme Soul) – the ultimate aim of Hindus.Important bathing dates during Magh mela attract nearly a million Hindu devotees. A temporary tent city is erected on the banks of Ganga in Allahabad. Numerous religious organizations and ashrams erect separate camps for their followers.A major highlight during the period is the Kalpavasis – pilgrims who live in these camps during the period of the Magh Mela.It must be noted here that when Kumbh Mela and Ardh Kumbh Mela takes place at Prayag, Magh Mela is not held.
2.Paush Purnima-Paush Purnima is a significant day in Hindu calendar. It marks the beginning of one month long austerity period which is observed during Magha month. In lunar calendar followed in North India Magha month starts from the next day of Paush Purnima.
3-Agrahanya Purnima-Agrahayana is one of the lunar months as per the Hindu calendar. According to the India's national civil calendar, Agrahayana is the ninth month of the year. This lunar month starts on November 22 and ends on December 21. This month was also known as Maargashirsha after the nakshatra Mrigashira during the Vedic period. The meaning of the term Agrahayana is 'ayan' or equinox. It is thought that this name may have been given when the sun was near Orion at the time of vernal equinox, i.e. around 7000 years ago. It is thought due to the close relation of this name with the Mrigashira asterism. As per the lunar religious calendars, the month of Agrahayana may start on either the new moon or the full moon around the same time of year. The month initiates with the Sun's entry into Scorpio as per the solar religious calendars.
