Shirley Toulson has brought out her grief beautifully. explain

Shirley Toulson's poem 'Photograph' is a meditation on loss and memory, on the transience of human life and the grief of the survivor. She describes the adult's discovery of a photograph portraying her mother, as a young girl, with some younger cousins swimming in the sea during a holiday. The poet realizes that her mother has been dead for the total number of years that the age of the girl at the time the photograph was taken. Toulson discusses the theme of change, pictures record a time in the distant past but what she tries to bring out is the passage of time that is marked by an image frozen in time. The photograph preserves the past but even the past changes as life goes on.
