STANDARD POTENTIAL
  •  Li       -3.04
  • Na       -2.714
  • K         -2.925
  • Rb       -2.930
  • Cs        -2.927
why standard potential  of Na is greater than other element of s-block ?

Dear User,
The given values are of standard reduction potential. As can be seen from the given data, Na has the least reduction potential. This means that Na has least tendency to lose electrons in comparison to all other members of their group. This can be attributed to small size and high nuclear charge as compared to other elements of the group.
However, Li is more small as compared to Na but has highest electrode potential. This is because of the large heat of hydration produced in lithium solution.
