state 3 occupational structures of indian population ? (3)

 1. The distribution of the population according to different types of occupation is referred to as the occupational structure

Primary activities include agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, fishing, mining and quarrying etc.

Secondary activities include manufacturing industry, building and construction work etc.

Tertiary activities include transport, communications, commerce, administration and other services

2. 

a. Occupational structure of any country is linked to its development. In India, majority of the people are engaged in agriculture who do not contribute to much of the economic development of the country. . Around 51% of the population is engaged in  the primary sector, ( 2012 data)
b.  There are more people involved in  agricultural / primary sector than actually required. Productivity per person is less, therefore their is a need to change.

. Around 22% of the total workforce is employed in the secondary sector. In the tertiary sector , the employment rate is 27% ( 2012 data)
d.   In India, thus Due to growing urbanisation, migration of people in cities it is important to develop and focus more on secondary and tertiary sectors that would increase productivity per person and contribute in the overall economic growth.
e. Due to increase industrialisation demand for secondary and tertiary sector is increasing
 f. Growing demand for services like transportation, banking , insurance with increase in population requires a shift in occupational structure
