Wasteland can be converted and can be put to use in the following manner:

a. By developing artificial lake that will support vegetation
b. By planting more trees, that would prevent soil erosion.
c. Reforestation would also enhance the fertility of the soil
d. Agricultural practises like crop rotation,mixed cropping this will increase the fertility 
e. Many wastelands can also be converted into parks
