when the battrey is short circuited we are left with only one loop where in the bttery is 2 volts and 5 ohm and 7 ohm resistors are joined in series
thus the net resistance in the circuit is 5 +7  = 12 ohmCurrent in the circuit is I =VRwhere I = 2 12 = 16ampere
this is also the current through the 5 ohm resistor
