what are the structures of SbF5 and V2O5 ? Is SbF5 acidic in nature or basic?

Dear Student,

The structure of SbF5 is trigonal bipyramid in gas phase.

SbF5 is Lewis acid.

The structure of V2O5 is unusual and consists of distorted trigonal bipyramid of VO5 units sharing edges with other units to form zig-zag double chain.

In SbFThe antimony atom is central and has no lone electron pairs, only five bonding pairs (one to each F atom). Each F atom has a bonding pair with the Sb atom and three lone pairs.

The overall structure of this molecule is trigonal bipyramidal.

V2O5 has a crystal structure(orthorhombic).

SbF5 is a lewis acid and is used to make superacid.

It has maximum of 5-free orbitals as it is in Nitrogen family.

SbF5 -how is it a lewis base it does not have any free orbital to accept any more electron pair?
