Refraction of light refers to the bending of the path of light
as it passes from one medium to another This happens because the
speed of light changes as the medium it travels through varies The
medium cases the light to either speed up or slow down depending
upon its index and this results in the bending of light

Here the light ray bends towards the normal as it slows down
after entering the medium If it speeds up then it will bend away
from the normal

Reflection and refraction Differences:

Reflection has no change in medium whereas refraction always has
change in medium
There is no bending of light in the case of reflection, the light
bends in refraction
There is no change in velocities of light in the case of
reflection, the velocity of light changes in refraction
