Multiple cropping involves the practise of growing two or more crops in the same piece of land in different growing seasons.
Merits of Multiple cropping:
a. It increases production of crops
b. It increases the agricultural income of the farmers as well as the nation.
c It makes efficient use of the land by keeping it engaged for production throughout the year.
Demerits of Multiple cropping:
a. It is difficult to weed large number of crops in the field.
b. Insects and pests may rotate from one crop to another.
c. Techniques like row planting, modern weeding tools may be difficult to be used.
