WHAT IS CHROMOSOMAL DNA AND PLASMIDS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO ?
Plasmid DNA:
. It is always double stranded.
2. It is circular.
3. It is naked without histone protein.
4. It does not carry any vital gene necessary for cell.
5. It can replicate independent of main genome.
6. It does not act as genetic factor.
7. Introns are absent.
Chromosomal DNA:
1. It may be single stranded or double stranded.
2. It is linear or circular.
3. It is coated with histone protein.
4. It carries vital genes necessary for cell.
5. It replicates with genome.
6. It acts as genetic factor.
7. Both exons and introns are present.
