What is hydration enthalpy ??

Hi,
Hydration enthalpy is the energy released when 1 mol of a substance is dissolved into a solution.  A high hydration enthalpy for an ion tends to give a soluble compound.  Hydration enthalpy increases as the size of an ion decreases and as the charge on an ion increases.
Hope it is clear to you.
Best Wishes!
