Advantage of vegetative propagation 1) seeds and fruits are uniform quality an size and good qualities of a variety can be maintained indefinitely and the disadvantages are vegetative propagation causes overcrowding and hence severe compeition and they cannot be stored for long

Advantages of Vegetative Propagation are :

• Plant which do not produce seeds, are propagated by the method e.g., sugar-cane, banana, potato, rose, orange, seedless grapes, jasmines, chrysanthemum, etc.
• Vegetative propagation is a cheaper, easier and more rapid method of propagation in plants than growing plants from their seeds.
• Plants raised through vegetative propagation can bear flowers and fruits much sooner than those produced from seeds.

Disadvantages of Vegetative Propagation:

• Vegetative propagation has a potential impact on the biodiversity of a species.
• If a clone of a plant is susceptible to a certain disease, it is possible that the entire crops of the clone are susceptible to the same disease.
• Due to lack of genetic variation the plants may gradually loose their vigor.
• Plants are more prone to diseases that are specific to a certain species. This can cause destruction to the entire crop.
