what is the mechanismof entering of antigens into the body and the production of antibodies and defence mechanism of antibodies...plz tell the whole process?....need fast

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Antigen refers to any foreign substance which on entering the body stimulates the production of antibodies in the body of an individual as a part of the immune response.  These foreign substances can be toxins, bacteria, foreign blood cells or the cells of the transplanted organs.

The microbes enter the body through various means like food, touch, sexual intercourse, contaminated blood, air, water etc. These microbes contain a protein on their surface that act as an antigen. These antigens bind with the receptors present on the surface of B lymphocytes, stimulate these cells to divide and mature into a group of identical cells. These B cells are continuously produced in the bone marrow. After activation, B lymphocytes produce antibodies.

The antibodies are Y shaped proteins. The antibodies have unique binding site for antigens. These antibodies attack the antigen (pathogen) and destroy it. These are then engulfed and digested by the other type of immune cells called macrophages. This way immune system works against the antigen.
