Which are the areas of high population density and why is it so?

Dear Student,

Population density is dependent on many factors like climate, resources, relief features and other political, social and economic fcators.Almost half of India’s population lives in just five states , Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh.
Northern plains have very high density.

Population density is high in these regions because:

a.Topographic factors:  .The Ganga plain has high population desnity  due to fertile  soil and non hilly land.
b .  Conducive Climatic conditions allows livelihood activities like agriculture and animal rearing to be done throughout the year.
c .   Availability of water and resources also impacts the distribution of population
d. Transportation and other facilities in these regions have also impacted population density
e. Industralization - This is one of the factors for the growing population in urban areas which has compelled people from rural areas to migrate into cities in search for better job and employment opportunities. Many people from backward states like Bihar , Orissa migrate in huge numbers to cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc.
