Why things are colourful  in appearnce?

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Everything around us is made up of electrons and atoms. These factors influence the colour of an object. When an object is exposed to light, they undergo one of the following phenomenon:
1. Reflection and scattering
Scattering is the phenomenon by which a beam of light is redirected in many different directions when it interacts with a particle of matter.
When light falls on a surface, the direction of the ray is changed. This change in direction is known as reflection of light. The reflected light travels to the same medium it came from.

2. Refraction:

Refraction of light refers to the bending of the path of light as it passes from one medium to another. This happens because the speed of light changes as the medium it travels through varies. The medium cases the light to either speed up or slow down depending upon its index and this results in the bending of light.

3. Absorption and Transmission
Colour of an object is the result of one of these phenomenon.
