write a short note on Tropical Thorn Forests and Scrubs, Montane Forests and Mangrove Forests
The features of thorn forest and scrubs are:
a. In regions with less than 70 cm of rainfall, the natural vegetation consists of thorny trees and bushes.
b.This type of vegetation is found in the north-western part of the country including semi-arid areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana as rainfall in these areas does not exceed 75 cm annually.
c. Acacias, palms, euphorbias and cacti are the main plant species.
d.These forests have long roots and sharp thorns. They help them get moisture from depths.
e. These forests give way to thorn forests and scrubs in arid areas.
f.Common animals found in these forests are rats, mice, rabbits, fox, wolf, tiger, lion, wild ass, horses and camels.
