Write main functions of nucleus and chromoplasts

Dear student,

Functions of nucleus:
  • It controls all metabolic activities of the cell like growth and metabolism.
  • It helps in the transfer of characters from parents to offspring.
  • It regulates the cell cycle and controls cell division and cell growth.
  • It stores DNA, RNA and ribosomes.
  • It is involved in protein and enzyme synthesis.

Functions of chromoplasts:
  • Chromoplasts are coloured plastids, containing coloured pigments like carotene (orange), xanthophylls (yellow) etc which are responsible for colours in different parts of the plant like fruits, flowers, buds, etc.
  • They are mostly present in the petals of flower in order to make flower attractive to pollinators.

nucleus:-
The nucleus controls and regulates the activities of the cell (e.g., growth and metabolism) and carries the genes, structures that contain the hereditary information. Nucleoli are small bodies often seen within the nucleus. The gel-like matrix in which the nuclear components are suspended is the nucleoplasm.

chromoplasts:-
Chromoplasts are basically plastids which are responsible for storage of specific pigments in fruits, roots and flowers giving them their distinctive color. The basic purpose of chromoplast as studied by evolution researchers is to attract insects and animals so that dispersal of seeds can take place.
