With the announcement of the JEE Mains results for IIT aspirants, various regions' performance has also come to the fore. Andhra Pradesh has maintained its position at the top with the highest number of successful candidates to progress to the next level. Next, taking up second position was the state of Uttar Pradesh. UP is known to produce the highest number of Class 12 passouts every year. A surprise factor in the results this year was the jump Maharashtra made to the fourth position, with a whopping 47 percent increase in the number of successful candidates, as compared to last year. After UP, Rajasthan took up the third position, a lot of credit for which, goes to the study hubs at Kota. Bihar has slipped down to fifth position, despite more number of students qualifying from the state than last year. Gujarat stands out of the top 5 states, however, improving upon the percentage from last year. Talking of figures, the top 5 states have contributed to about 53.3 % candidates out of the successful 1.54 lakhs. These students now qualify for the IIT JEE Advanced exams.
